Overview
City Dream Centre is a charity in Lower Mainland B.C. bringing dignity to those most vulnerable in the community. They wanted a fresh look for their website that reflects the organization as it’s grown and engage the community. The original site did not align with their identity going into the future.
GOALS
Raise Donations & Event Awareness
Increase mission awareness and reflect the organization’s brand and voice
Increase involvement, getting people to engage either through donations, or volunteering
Increase visibility of programs
Make it seamless to gift donations for various causes
Showcase more of the faces and volunteers behind the projects
Shift the focus to be more inclusive of the now diverse groups of people the organization serves

CHALLENGES
Disorganized Content & Platform Limitations
Needed to use Kindful which is a platform separate from Squarespace
Site hierarchy was disorganized and pages/links weren’t accessible or old
Text & content hierarchy needed to be established
Navigation was repeated and confusing, hidden in a hamburger menu even on desktop
Needed an engaging and readable way to display text heavy content
CTA buttons were inconsistently placed and not inviting
Visual design did not reflect brand identity, didn’t match logo or social media pages
SOLUTION
Clear, image forward website with cohesive brand identity
Designed an engaging home page, clearly describing the mission and showing visually the feel of the community
Set up spacial hierarchies with consideration for screen folds
Included engaging animated icons, humanistic pen strokes, and video
Placed solid animated CTAs (Donate Today/Volunteer) visible on each fold and at the header to make actions easy and top of mind
Designed an organized, easy to see navigation, a new site map and information architecture
Showcased photos of the community to create familiarity and trust
Added impact of donation section to build trust and connection with the people on the receiving end
Added quick intro of what programs are offered to encourage awareness and exploration
Included an announcement banner to easily promote current events
Made Kindful integration more cohesive by using brand colours and images
Reduced the number of clicks to donate
Updated UX writing to align with the brand tone of voice, staying warm and action orientated
